It’s a really great plugin. Honestly. It sounds great and you can hear the differences in sound when adjusting parameters. The CPU usage is fantastic, which is something usually a problem in channel strip plugins especially. The graphics are awesome and it is certainly eye candy! However there are some negatives unfortunately that I hope will be addressed asap. The purchasing mechanism is problematic and seems hit and miss. I tried purchasing further plugins via a request form and never received a reply. Shame. Perhaps as I’d moaned about the strange payment mechanism, they no longer want my custom? Overall 10/10 for the plugin go buy it (if you can)

It’s got three knobs and three buttons. The amount of magic the Sonimus wizards are able to squeeze out of three knobs and three buttons is amazing, and the minimalist approach to “that console sound” delivers you exactly that.
It’s not another channel strip and it doesn’t try to be. It’s better. You have better compressors than those in other brands’ channel strips, you have better EQs too. If you’re buying channel strips for the “console/analogue flavour” then don’t; buy this instead. There is NO fat on this, just the essentials to give you that Neve sound.
Been in the home and small-time studio game for 20-odd years and this very thing is what I’ve lusted after. It’s REALLY hard to make it sound bad! Go as mad as you want on the drive, but do watch the “push” and “fat” buttons as the manual says (powerful little tools.) At long long last this *IS* the big desk sound in your DAW.

The many positive reviews made me decide to just take the risk and buy it without demo’ing it (I could not find a link to a demo on the site, i took a a star off to sanction this omission hehe….) . It was well worth it. This plugin which is actually a set of different modules is really impressive. It genuinely creates a sense of depth and weight in your mix. That “3d” kind of feeling that we crave when working in the box and usually takes a lot of effort to recreate, it delivers that. A console style vibe. In a way that is not gimmicky (like another plugin company I won’t mention ;) but actually dead simple. The saturation and coloring is really convincing and pleasing to the ear. N-Console is a really beautiful, elegant system designed for those seeking a warm initial analogue channel strip feel, and overall console magic, including cross-talk, saturation, grouping and mix buss summing.
The ability to switch the fader function to input drive only (Trim as Drive) is great if you want to experiment with tone shaping with a fixed output level.
In standard fader mode, it’s also useful to have an extra channel fader, especially if you have a lot of automation on that channel and just need to adjust levels globally, as a retrospective gesture, for instance.
Everything is intuitive with this system.
The GUI is beautiful! Not that this matters sonically, but it is nice to work with such pretty tools.
I have started working with this, and with A-Console, which has a very 3-D punch to it, and a nice glossiness. Both consoles make a compelling case for themselves. You may find yourself using N-Console on one type of production, A-Console on others. I can’t say one is “better”.
These systems are priced very reasonably, compared others. Don’t think that “cheap” is “cheap sounding” though – these sound expensive!
Regardless of price, I’d say these are unbeatable plugins, and they are pretty easy on your CPU.
I would respectfully suggest Sonimus offer 14 day trials, in line with many of the other developers out there.
I bought these on the strength of the recommendations and reviews I read, and I obviously don’t regret it; it’s more the case that I believe Sonimus would gain more well-deserved sales if folks could ‘try before they buy’.

Especially not the Bus component, the old coloration choices are more hidden now (one has to tilt the old head to read them). I’ve upgraded from Britson. It sounds fantastic. What you’re getting is essentially 3 processors – a stereo/modulation tool, saturation, and dynamics and you’re able to select what you want active. Often I’ll turn off the saturation and just lean into the compression that’s offered (try gain compensation turned on).
Using the plugin as it’s intended to be used it quickly create’s a ‘classy’ sounding mix. Whether you’re looking for the Neve sound or not I’d boldly guarantee your mixes will sound better using this plugin than not using it!

I’ve liked almost all the products I’ve downloaded from Sominus, but the lack of oversampling has kept me from using them on all of my mixes. However, this has changed with N-Console. The new design (now with oversampling) sounds crisp and clean – exactly what I was hoping for.
