- 5 SonEQ modules to choose from:
- Low band Module: Similar to one of the most famous analog EQs, the low-frequency controls consist of two filters that work interactively. One boosts lows while the other attenuates. Choose from 4 center frequencies: 20, 30, 60, and 100 Hz.
- Low-Mid band Module: this band is a bell filter ranging from 45 Hz to 4000 Hz with a generally soft and very musical sound. Engage the HiQ to use the band for a “surgical” treatment.
- High-Mid band Module: Ranging from 400 Hz to 9000 Hz, the high-mid band features a larger bandwidth and smoothly shaped bell, making it ideal for this type of frequency equalization.
- High Module: taking inspiration from a variety of equalizers famous for their ability to apply a soft and silky sheen to the audio material. SonEQ2’s high boost is great for adding a natural “air” to an individual instrument or an entire mix.
- Preamp Module: clean and add warmth to the signal using the filters and drive from the preamp module.

When I first tried the sonEQ2 demo, I could not believe what heard when I boosted the high mids and the highs…. So great.
So I bought this stuff.
Also, the modular concept is very cool, you add as many bands as you need, like a stock parametric EQ, but here you see nothing, only hear !!!
That’s a pretty good way to force you relying on your ears. Sonimus knows this as you can even remove the labels….

This is simply the best EQ I have found for high end and low end sweetening when used on a buss or for mastering. Boosting the high end with this eq sounds particularly great. I am certain that I can dial in great high end boost with other plugins. But the point is that with this one I can do it immediately, without much fussing, and it always simply sounds good. I do notice that with other plugins (and I have a few top tier eqs), I have had a hard time getting the top end to sound as smooth without annoying sibilance and harsh resonances. As with other Sonimus plugins, I feel that the magic here is in the pre configured boundaries of the plugin. The eq curves take some of the guesswork out of it. You simply get a good sound because parameters are intelligently defined. Today’s DAWs have stock eq plugins that you can use to get just about any sound. But that’s not the point. With that flexibility and genericness comes a loss of time spent trying to narrow your options and actually find a good sound. So what you are getting here with SonEQ2 is a set of options that are already configured for you in such a way that you can trust that what you dial in, particularly if you tend to use the default configuration, is just going to sound great.

This is simply a fantastic EQ! I have a TON of EQ plugins, and I sat on this one for several months thinking, “I don’t need another EQ!” On a whim I decided to demo it on material I had previously mixed and was very familiar with. Needless to say, the results quickly changed my mind! This EQ has an extremely smooth quality to it that retains the natural essence of the sound and doesn’t make a source sound processed. BUT, it still oozes with vibe!! The Drive (saturation) adds weight and thickness to a sound without the obvious foray into fuzz land. Classy EQ, and I’m so glad I didn’t sleep on this one!!!

Hello, I like the sound of the Eq very much, it’s modern and musical.
But having a MS mode (or at least a Dual Channel mode for further MS processing via MS routing) would be a great addition for Mastering applications. Also, regarding your “woow” switch, having access to different values of the All-Pass filter would be a great option too.

Très bel equalizer. Quasi impossible à mal faire sonner. On dirait qu’il y a des lampes à l’intérieur. Les courbes sont très douces, musicales et précises en même temps. L’aspect modulaire ( si on ne s’y perd pas ) est une vraie belle innovation, celà permet d’être d’avantage dans l’instinct, dans l’écoute et le ressenti plutôt que de se dire ” Bon, ok j’ai égalisé les bas-medium, maintenant je passe aux aigu. Je pense que bien maitrisé cela peut vraiment changer l’approche. Fonctionne très bien en mastering, en particulier le Drive qui peut aider à ramener un peu de flou-musical, de liant dans le bas du spectre. très subtil.

The oversampling feature is a game changer! Great sound, very versatile and very friendly GUI. I’d love if you could control the bands where the drive feature affects. Or at list a HP filter of the drive so it doesn’t affect the lows when you don’t want to. Very cool sounding filters as well. Congratulations!

Sounds good. Simple to use. Does seem to sound better (more articulate) than v1 edition. Love the flexibility to add or remove modules as needed. Reasonable on CPU. Love the “under-the-hood” features like Oversampling settings.
My personal wish list: The fixed slopes do sound good, but I’d love to see some kind of slope control on the HP & LP filters. Having an MS matrix built-in for stereo instances would be very powerful, and useful on this EQ for buss & master buss sweetening / widening. This one would do that very well. The Pultec thing is great, and you can get a low peak with the LM module — but — a standard Shelf / Peak button on a simple LF module would be nice so you can audition those shapes within the same LF module. I would love to see a “Tilt” module introduced, maybe even with a few different curves! Minor quibbles, but those are features I think could really enhance this EQ, and stay in the spirit of what it’s aimed at doing. (Easy sweetening.)
In a flooded market, this EQ still offers something that’s easy and hard to make sound bad. It allows for quick enhancement with minimal tweaking, which means I can work faster. Dig it.

SonEQ 2 works perfectly good. I use it with Audirvana via ASIO (JPLAY driver). My amplifier is very little but its sound really amazing (S.M.S.L. Q5 Pro / 3 digital input + 1 analog input / It integrates a Texas Instruments TAS5508 + TAS5342 amplifier module).
