There are thousands of EQ plugins on the market. They come in different forms and sizes: from clinical and transparent, to vintage sounding, analog, and gritty. There are close emulations from legendary equipment and innovative modern digital equalizers.

The SonEQ 2 is the evolution of Sonimus’ classic SonEQ (Which is free to download). With improved curves, analog modeling, and oversampling processing, this plugin provides the best audio quality possible retaining the analog vibe. Together with the classic Low-Band and High-Band modules, the plugin provides two Mid-Frequency bands and a Preamp module.

Although named as Low-Mid and High-Mid, these two bands have a very broad frequency range that crossover between 400Hz and 4kHz. This allows you to use one as a cut and the other one as a boost with its different bandwidth options. From more surgical with the Hi-Q mode in the Low-Mid band to more musical with the default or Mid-Q bandwidth of the High-Mid band. 

The SonEQ 2 has unified the filter and preamp sections in just one module. Allowing it to go from completely clean to oversaturated with the turn of one knob. And with oversampling working by default (at 2X) in the background you don’t have to worry about any loss of audio quality or artifacts in your track.

In summary, these batteries of upgrades provide an improved sound without losing the Sonimus hallmark analog character. 

A Modern Workflow: The Sky’s The Limit 

Our new virtual rack structure, allows you to rearrange, remove or add bands to will, and customize the plugin to taste. Combining up to 16 of its 5 modules, the possibilities are endless! Now, with the SonEQ 2, there are no constraints in the number of EQ bands. Streamline your workflow and just add the extra module without any loss of audio quality.

Combine as many High-Mid and Low-Mid bands as needed to shape the tone to taste. And by rearranging the modules you will get subtleties in the sonic character of your tracks. You can also get creative and turn SonEQ 2 into a saturation plugin by removing all the EQ bands and pairing two Preamp modules. Add drive at the beginning of the chain and then filtering in the second module to enrich harmonically the busses in your mixes.
