Fact: Vocal EQ does NOT have to be rocket science. People seem to really struggle with dialing in a great vocal mix and I’ve found that it’s usually due to people overcomplicating the process Especially when it comes to EQ tweaking. There’s no reason to go nuts notching out a bunch of different “problem frequencies” when you mix vocals (or any other instrument for that matter). As a matter of fact, I often utilize an EQ technique that’s the complete opposite of the “problem frequency” approach.
